Russia sends assault teams to Sumy, takes heavy losses

Russian forces continue attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses in the Sumy region using small assault groups.
This was reported by the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko during the national telethon.
In that area, the occupiers are actively using the tactic of small assault groups in an attempt to break deeper into Ukrainian territory.
"The enemy is using the tactic of small assault groups, but recently this tactic has not allowed them to achieve the results they expected — to penetrate deep into our country and seize the border areas," said Demchenko.
Enemy losses
Ukrainian border guards, together with units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, deliver precise fire strikes on the enemy every day.
According to the spokesperson, within the State Border Guard Service’s defensive sectors alone, the enemy is suffering heavy losses:
"Every day, there are dozens killed and dozens wounded. That’s just within the SBGS defensive sectors, where our troops are working alongside the Armed Forces of Ukraine," he said.
Sumy region remains one of the most vulnerable sections of Ukraine’s border.
The total length of the borderline with Russia in the region is about 550 kilometers. This enables the enemy to constantly attempt breakthroughs and test the Armed Forces’ defenses with small units.
Situation in Sumy region
As a reminder, a few days ago Demchenko said that the enemy continues to send infantry into the Yunakivka and Khotin communities of Sumy region. In particular, Russian forces are trying to expand the incursion zone.
He also reported on June 5 that the occupiers are actively using aviation in the Sumy direction, with attacks accompanied by attempts to break through using small assault groups.
