Russian oil refinery in the city of Ryazan was apparently targeted in a drone attack. Videos showing the strike and a massive fire at the facility have emerged online.

Footage posted on social media shows Russian air defenses in action, followed by an explosion and a bright flash in the sky, after which thick smoke rises.

No official confirmation of a strike on the oil refinery has been made. It is also unclear how seriously the facility may have been damaged.

According to the footage, an air raid alert was heard first, followed by Russian air defense activity. A powerful explosion then occurred, with a glow visible over the area around the facility. Other videos and photos show a large fire and thick smoke.

Meanwhile, Ryazan Region Governor Pavel Malkov has not reported an attack on the region or its aftermath. Information about overnight strikes usually appears on his Telegram channel in the morning. Local social media channels have also yet to provide detailed information about a possible attack or any drone threat alert.

About Ryazan oil refinery

Ryazan Refinery (RNPK) is part of Russian oil giant Rosneft and is one of the country's largest oil refining facilities.

Its designed capacity is approximately 17 million metric tons of crude oil per year. The refinery is located in Ryazan and plays an important role in supplying fuel to Moscow and other regions of central Russia.

The facility produces various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, fuel oil, liquefied gases, bitumen, and petrochemical feedstocks. In particular, it produces components used to supply fuel to Russian aviation.

As also reported at 4:16 a.m., a fire has broken out at a Wildberries logistics warehouse in Ryazan. The scale of the fire remains unclear, as does the number of drones that may have reached the hub.

Ryazan oil refinery has been repeatedly targeted

The oil refinery in Ryazan is regularly targeted by drone attacks. Several such incidents were reported in 2026, including in May, July, September, and October.

One of the latest confirmed attacks occurred on October 15. At the time, Governor Pavel Malkov himself reported a fire at the oil refinery following a massive drone attack on the region. He also said that a warehouse and vehicles at another facility had been damaged.

The following day, Reuters, citing industry sources, reported that one of the refinery's main crude distillation units, CDU-6, had been shut down following the drone strike. Several pipelines were also damaged.
