Russia's overnight air assault leaves impacts across Ukraine despite interceptions

During the night of July 24, Russia attacked Ukraine with five missiles and 180 attack drones. Ukrainian air defenses shot down most of the incoming targets, but some strikes got through, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
During the night, Russia attacked Ukraine with:
- Five Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles fired from the airspace over the Black Sea;
- 180 attack drones, including Shahed drones (including jet-powered variants), Gerbera, Italmas, and Parodiya decoy drones, launched from the directions of Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), Donetsk (temporarily occupied territory), Hvardiiske, and Chauda (temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea).
The aerial attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 8:00 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or suppressed four Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles and 160 enemy drones over the north, south, and east of the country.
One guided air-launched missile and 14 attack drones struck targets at nine locations. Debris from intercepted targets fell at eight locations.
Attacks on Ukraine
On the afternoon of July 23, Russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia with guided aerial bombs. By the evening, it was known that more than two dozen people had been injured in the strike.
On Wednesday, July 22, Russian forces struck a gas station in Sumy, sparking fires.
Russia also attacked Odesa with drones. The attack left people injured.
