Ukraine's Sumy under attack: Russian drones hit gas stations, sparking fires

On Wednesday, July 22, Russian forces struck a gas station in Sumy, sparking fires, according to a statement by Serhii Kryvosheienko, head of the Sumy City Military Administration.
"The enemy struck a gas station in Sumy's Kovpakivskyi district. The impact sparked a fire," Kryvosheienko said.
He warned that there was a risk of a follow-up strike and stressed the danger of staying near impact sites. He urged residents to remain in safe locations during air raid alerts.
"Another Russian drone struck a gas station in Sumy's Zarichnyi district. The attack caused a fire on the station's premises," he added.
Kryvosheienko said there were no immediate reports of casualties. Authorities are still assessing the full extent of the damage.
Earlier, officials in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region announced that gas stations would reduce fuel storage volumes to minimize potential losses from Russian strikes. Mobile shelters will also be installed at gas stations, while police will monitor vehicle congestion near fueling sites.
Recently, Russia also attacked the Dnipropetrovsk region with strike drones, damaging five gas stations. One woman was killed, and three others were injured.
Ukraine's military intelligence has also said Russian units were ordered to intensify drone attacks on civilian infrastructure and transport in frontline and border regions of Ukraine.
