Russia's losses in Ukraine as of November 17: +1,640 troops and 12 tanks
Over the night of November 16-17, the Russian army lost 1,640 soldiers, 36 artillery systems, and 60 drones on the front lines of the war with Ukraine, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The total combat Russian losses as of November 17, 2024, are estimated to be:

Frontline situation and massive shelling
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), there are no signs of preparations for a Russian offensive on Zaporizhzhia. Instead, the enemy is attempting to breach the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defense on six fronts.
In the morning, the Russians launched a large number of missiles of various types at Ukraine. Explosions have been heard in many regions and settlements.
In Kyiv, a fire was reported on the roof of a residential building, with casualties.
The enemy is attacking power generation and transmission facilities.
Due to the shelling, emergency power outages have been implemented in many regions.
