Frontline situation

Fighters from Lazar's Group, in coordination with the 429th Achilles unmanned systems brigade and the Joint Forces grouping, detected and destroyed a Russian S-400 Triumph air defense system worth about $1 billion, according to Ukraine's National Guard. The system was identified through aerial reconnaissance before strike drones carried out precision attacks. Its destruction has reportedly reduced Russian air defense activity in the Kharkiv direction.

On March 4, Ukrainian drones hit the Russian minesweeper Valentin Pikul and damaged two anti-submarine ships in Novorossiysk on March 2, Ukraine's Security Service sources said. Three sailors were killed, and 14 were wounded.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reports that Ukrainian forces regained more territory than they lost in the final two weeks of February 2026 — the first net gain since the 2023 summer counteroffensive. Since January 1, Ukraine has liberated about 257 square kilometers, including nearly 90 square kilometers in the second half of February alone.
