Frontline situation

Ukrainian counterattacks on the southern front may disrupt Russia’s planned spring–summer 2026 offensive, according to the Institute for the Study of War. Ukrainian forces intensified operations near Oleksandrivka, Huliaipole, and in the western Zaporizhzhia region, complicating Russian plans to advance toward Zaporizhzhia from multiple directions. Analysts say these actions highlight growing challenges for Russian forces and expose limits in their resources and structure.

Ukrainian forces carried out a series of overnight strikes on Russian military targets in occupied territories, the General Staff reported. The attacks hit fuel depots near Koptevo and Makiivka, an electronic warfare station in the Donetsk region, as well as artillery positions and a drone control point. Ukrainian strikes also targeted concentrations of Russian troops, aiming to weaken Moscow’s offensive capabilities.
