Russia's losses in Ukraine as of August 21: another 460 occupiers and 19 artillery systems destroyed
Russia's losses in the war in Ukraine as of Monday, August 21, amounted to 460 occupiers, with the total casualties of the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion reaching 257,930 military personnel. In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 19 artillery systems, 14 armored vehicles, and 12 enemy tanks, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Facebook.
The overall Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to August 21, 2023, are estimated as follows:
- Personnel: Approximately 257,930 (up by 460 individuals);
- Tanks: 4,358 (up by 12);
- Armored fighting vehicles: 8,449 (up by 14);
- Artillery systems: 5,264 (up by 19);
- Multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS): 719 (up by 2);
- Anti-aircraft missile systems: 489;
- Aircraft: 315;
- Helicopters: 316;
- Tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs): 4,309 (up by 5);
- Cruise missiles: 1,406;
- Ships/boats: 18;
- Vehicles and tankers: 7,692 (up by 12);
- Specialized equipment: 794 (up by 4).
Frontline situation
According to the General Staff's data, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions. They are consolidating their positions on achieved frontlines and conducting counter-battery measures.
As reported by the Institute for the Study of War, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have advanced to the outskirts of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.
