Kyiv faces heavy attack with ballistic missiles and Shahed drones: Details

On the night of July 4, Kyiv is under a massive combined attack by Russia. The shelling has caused fires, and there are reported casualties.

Since the evening of July 3, a large number of Shahed drones have been detected in Ukrainian airspace. However, after 2 a.m. Kyiv time, the Russian forces launched several ballistic missiles targeting the capital.
In the Holosiivskyi district, a man was injured as a result of the Russian attack.
Additionally, drone debris has been found near residential buildings at four locations in the Shevchenkivskyi, Solomianskyi, and Holosiivskyi districts.
Medical teams have also been dispatched to the Shevchenkivskyi, Solomianskyi, and Darnytskyi districts.
Furthermore, several fires have broken out across Kyiv. The Kyiv City Military Administration has urged residents to close their windows due to the high concentration of combustion products in the air.

The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration reported that, preliminarily, eight people have been injured as a result of the attack on the capital.

- Dniprovskyi district - Debris fell in the courtyard of residential buildings and on the grounds of an educational institution. No fires were reported.
- Solomianskyi district - Debris hit non-residential buildings and a garage cooperative, causing a fire. Warehouses and an administrative building also caught fire.
- Sviatoshynskyi district - Debris fell on warehouse territory, sparking a fire. Additional debris landed in the courtyard of a 16-story residential building, setting vehicles on fire. A fire also broke out in a private residential area.
- Darnytskyi district - Debris fell in several open areas. No fires or detonations occurred.
- Shevchenkivskyi district - Debris damaged an eight-story residential building that had not yet been occupied. A fire broke out on the first floor. Another fire was reported in a private sector area.

Klitschko reported that the number of injured in Kyiv has risen to 14. Twelve of them have been hospitalized by medical teams, while two received assistance on-site.

The number of injured in Kyiv has risen to 19. Five people are receiving outpatient care, while 14 have been hospitalized.

According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, 23 people were injured in the enemy attack on the capital, based on current medical data.
Fourteen have been hospitalized, while others received on-site or outpatient medical care.
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko confirmed that among the wounded is a 10-year-old girl.
So far, residential buildings, educational institutions, and medical and transport infrastructure across the city have sustained damage.

A fire broke out on the roof of a seven-story building, covering 2,000 square meters.
Fires also erupted in a warehouse, a car service station, and a garage complex.
Widespread damage to civilian infrastructure has been reported.
Meanwhile, in the Sviatoshynskyi district, a 14-story residential building was hit, sparking a fire. Several vehicles caught fire, and multiple blazes in non-residential buildings are still being extinguished.
In Shevchenkivskyi district, an unoccupied eight-story residential building was hit by a drone strike, destroying the first floor.
In Darnytskyi and Holosiivskyi districts, debris from downed enemy drones was also reported.
Emergency services, including the State Emergency Service and police, have been working at the strike sites since the first minutes of the attack.
Air raid alert in Kyiv
An air raid alert was declared in Kyiv at 5:15 p.m. due to the threat of drone attacks. The alert lasted until 7:24 p.m., but sirens sounded again at 8:00 p.m.
Due to the alert during rush hour, the city’s metro partially halted operations, and trains did not run on the above-ground sections. However, the underground metro continues to serve as a shelter.
