Russia’s Kalibr launchers remain in Black Sea: How real is threat of attack

Today, Russian forces are once again keeping their missile carriers in the Black Sea, maintaining the ongoing threat of attacks on Ukraine, reports the Ukrainian Navy.
As of 6:00 a.m. Kyiv time on June 3rd, two enemy ships have been spotted in the Black Sea, both carrying Kalibr cruise missiles with a combined salvo capacity of up to 12 missiles.
At the same time, there are no hostile ships in the Sea of Azov. However, three enemy vessels have been detected in the Mediterranean Sea, including one missile carrier armed with up to 8 Kalibr missiles.
In addition, over the past day, in support of Russia, passage through the Kerch Strait was recorded as follows:
- 10 vessels entered the Black Sea, of which 7 continued onward toward the Bosporus Strait;
- 3 vessels entered the Sea of Azov, with 1 coming from the Bosporus.
The Navy concluded that Russia continues to violate the 1974 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) by disabling its automatic identification systems.
