However, some buildings near Kalinina Street and the Belgorod Thermal Power Plant (TPP) temporarily lost power. It is currently unknown whether this is related to a possible strike on the power plant.
It was also reported that windows were damaged in a private house in the city, and in the settlement of Maysky, debris damaged two cars.
Previous attacks on the Belgorod TPP
Attacks on the TPP in Belgorod are no longer isolated incidents — in recent months, the city has regularly come under strikes targeting its energy infrastructure, leading to large-scale power and heating outages in the region.
For example, during the night of November 8–9, 2025, the Luch combined heat and power plant in Belgorod was struck. According to local sources, falling debris and equipment damage caused a massive blackout — more than 20,000 residents were left without electricity and heating.
According to Ukrainian and international sources, the attack seriously damaged the plant’s gas turbine units, which generated electricity for the city. Until then, the station had remained one of Belgorod’s last functioning power plants after previous damage to another TPP.
On October 11, Belgorod also came under a missile strike. As a result, the Luch TPP was damaged, and most districts of the city were left without electricity. And on October 13, the Russian city was hit again. Preliminary reports indicated that turbines at the Belgorod TPP were destroyed, rendering it completely inoperative.
On the evening of Saturday, December 6, a powerful explosion occurred in the Russian city of Belgorod, located near the border with Ukraine. After that, parts of the city and nearby suburbs were left without electricity. The cause was an accidental release of an aerial bomb from a Russian combat aircraft. A large crater formed at the site where the bomb fell near an electrical substation.
