Fighting near Dobropillia
At the beginning of August, the analytical project DeepState reported a breakthrough of Russian forces in the Dobropillia area. According to experts, the enemy was advancing toward the settlements of Kucheriv Yar, Zolotyi Kolodiaz, and Vesele.
The Dnipro Joint Forces Command confirmed that the Russian forces operated in small groups, tried to bypass the first line of defense, and used their numerical advantage. However, Ukrainian forces managed to retake a number of previously lost positions.
The Russian troops formed so-called "claws" – small infantry group penetrations in the Dobropillia area in an attempt to break through the defensive line. However, this penetration was quickly cut off, leaving servicemen without supplies and food.
As Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported, in the Dobropillia direction, the Russian troops captured 13.5 square kilometers but lost control of 25.5 square kilometers of territory.
At present, mopping-up operations continue near Dobropillia against Russian forces that broke into the rear of Ukrainian positions. They are not being allowed to join up with the main enemy grouping.
