Russia claimed that Ukrainian drones allegedly attacked the Syzran oil refinery in the Samara region. Ukraine has not yet confirmed this information, according to the governor of Samara region, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev.
According to Fedorishchev, drones allegedly attacked industrial enterprises in the Samara region. The targets were "fuel and energy sector facilities."
He stated that in Syzran, during the repulsion of the attack, "as a result of a drone falling," two people were killed and two others injured.
Local residents said that the Syzran oil refinery of Rosneft, with a capacity of 8.5 million tons per year, was hit. The refinery was previously attacked in August, after which it temporarily ceased operations.
Drones also struck several substations.
In Kursk region, Governor Alexander Khinshtein reported that an attack on an energy facility in the Borovsky district of Rylsk disabled two boiler plants. About 3,000 consumers were left without electricity.
Additionally, in temporarily occupied Crimea, drones allegedly attacked the Krasnoperekopsk substation, causing a fire. The substation is responsible for the transit and distribution of electricity across northern Crimea.
Strikes on Russian oil refineries
Earlier, on the night of November 20, Ukrainian Defense Forces hit the Ryazan oil refinery and other Russian aggressor targets, including a concentration of occupying forces in the Donetsk region.
On the night of November 14, the Defense Forces struck an oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov region. Also targeted were a naval base in Krasnodar Krai and a fuel storage site near Engels.
Furthermore, on November 4, following drone attacks, two Russian oil refineries – the petrochemical complex in Bashkiria and the Nizhny Novgorod refinery – were simultaneously halted.
On the night of November 3, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Saratov oil refinery. The strike reportedly hit the facility, causing a fire in the processing units. This is one of the oldest oil refineries in Russia, which, as of 2023, processed 4.8 million tons of oil and supplied the needs of the Russian army.
