On the night of November 20, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Ryazan oil refinery and other Russian aggressor targets, including a concentration of enemy troops in the Donetsk region, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
What is known about the Ryazan refinery and the latest attack
"In the course of reducing the combat capabilities of the Russian Federation’s armed forces, Ukrainian Defense Forces units carried out another strike on the Ryazan oil refinery in the Ryazan region, Russia," the statement said.
The military noted that the target was hit, and a fire broke out in the area of secondary oil refining installations. The extent of the damage is currently being assessed.
The Ryazan oil refinery, with a design capacity of 17.1 million tons of oil per year, is among the largest refineries in Russia. It produces A-92/95/98/100 gasoline, diesel, TS-1 jet fuel, liquefied gases, and other petroleum products.
The plant produces an average of 840,000 tons of aviation fuel annually and is involved in supplying the Aerospace Forces of the Russian army.
Defense Forces also strike Russian troops in Donetsk
Additionally, hits were recorded on enemy troop concentrations in the temporarily occupied territory of the Donetsk region. Russian losses are being clarified.
"The Defense Forces continue taking measures to undermine the military-economic potential of Russian occupiers, depriving the invading army of fuel, lubricants, and ammunition, and forcing the Russian Federation to stop armed aggression against Ukraine," the General Staff added.
It should be recalled that the Ryazan oil refinery was also attacked on November 15. At that time, the General Staff reported that Ukrainian forces carried out a series of high-precision strikes.
As previously reported, the Ukrainian Defense Forces systematically target Russian refineries to weaken the aggressor and reduce its ability to produce fuel for the army.
In recent months, a number of key facilities have been struck, including refineries in Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Oryol, and Bryansk regions.
One of the most significant strikes was a series of attacks on refining capacities in Ufa, Kstovo, and Novoshakhtinsk, which caused production halts and shortages of aviation fuel used by Russian troops.
