Ukraine’s Defense Forces attacked the Saratov oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov region overnight. A hit on the facility and a fire in the area of the oil refining units were recorded, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Commander of the AFU’s Special Operations Forces, Robert Brovdi.
"On the night of November 3, 2025, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Saratov oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov region. A hit on the facility and a fire in the area of the ELOU AVT-6 oil refining complex were recorded," the General Staff said.
It is noted that the Saratov refinery is one of the oldest oil refining enterprises in Russia. As of 2023, its processing volume amounted to 4.8 million tons. The plant is involved in supplying the needs of the Russian armed forces.
The Defense Forces also carried out fire strikes on the occupiers’ logistical facilities in the temporarily occupied Luhansk region. In particular, a warehouse of material and technical equipment in the settlement of Rozkishne and a fuel and lubricant rail convoy in Dovzhansk were hit.
"The Defense Forces are consistently implementing a set of measures to strike critical elements of the military-industrial base of the terrorist state in order to deprive it of the ability to continue aggression," the General Staff’s statement reads.
What the Ukrainian Defense Forces say
"The wormy oil-filling plant with a capacity of 4.8–7.2 million tons has once again gotten tired. The Sergeyevka traction power substation that supports the railway infrastructure in Millerovo, Rostov region, was also pecked," the commander of the AFU’s Special Operations Forces reported.
Strikes on oil refineries in Russia
Russians regularly complain about attacks by unidentified drones in various parts of the country. Typically, Russian oil refineries are targeted for attack. These strikes are periodically confirmed by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
In addition, recently, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Vasyl Maliuk, reported that Ukrainian forces have already carried out 160 strikes on oil refineries and other facilities deep inside Russia. According to him, in September and October alone, several key refineries were hit, leading to a 90% drop in oil production and a fuel shortage exceeding 20%.
Previously, in September, Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces disabled the Ilsky oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar region.
