Russia is forming assault groups from injured soldiers who have been prematurely sent back to the front. In doing so, Russia is reducing the strain on its medical system, states the British Ministry of Defense on X.

According to British intelligence, based on open-source data, Russia's 20th Combined Arms Army has formed assault groups from injured soldiers and sent them into combat.

"There is a realistic possibility Russian commanders are directing this activity to retain personnel who would otherwise become lost in an overburdened medical system," the report states.

Injured Russian soldiers may have been returned to their units after being prematurely discharged by orders from their commanders.

British analysts claim that the lack of proper medical care in hospitals away from the front line is forcing the transfer of administrative and medical burdens back to the military units.

Russian losses at the front

According to the Ukrainian General Staff, over the past day, 1,320 Russian invaders were neutralized at the front, along with dozens of Russian military vehicles destroyed. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has already lost more than 840,000 soldiers.

Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported that in January, Ukraine’s Defense Forces neutralized more than 15,000 invaders in the Pokrovsk direction, with 7,000 of them being irrecoverable losses.

Overall, Russia’s losses in 2024 have been the highest since the start of the full-scale war, according to data from Ukraine's Ministry of Defense.
