Russian forces once again attacked Ukraine with drones overnight from April 19 to 20. Several cities came under enemy fire, with damage reported in each of them.
Here is everything we know as of now.
Key points:
- Mykolaiv, Kyiv region, Kryvyi Rih, and Kharkiv were targeted by drone strikes
- Residential buildings were damaged in the Kyiv region, Mykolaiv, and Kryvyi Rih
- Two people were injured in Kharkiv, and one man was injured in the Brovary district (Kyiv region)
Weapons used
According to Ukraine's Air Force, from late evening through the entire night and into the early morning, Russia launched drones across Ukraine.
In particular, between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. Kyiv time, UAVs were detected in at least Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, and Poltava regions.
Additionally, at 1:00 a.m., there was a threat of ballistic missile use, but no launches were recorded.
Which cities were attacked
Mykolaiv
Mykolaiv was the first city hit. At around 11:05 p.m., during a drone threat alert, an explosion was heard in the city. Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych later said that local authorities and emergency services had been dispatched to the scene.
Shortly afterward, regional governor Vitalii Kim reported specific consequences of the strike.
"Mykolaiv. As a result of a Shahed drone attack, a multi-story building, several private houses, vehicles, power lines, and tram tracks were damaged. As of now, there are no casualties," the statement said.
Kyiv region
Air raid alerts were declared twice overnight in Kyiv and the surrounding region. The first was linked to a ballistic missile threat, the second to detected drones.
As noted above, no ballistic missiles were launched, but the Brovary district came under drone attack, resulting in damage and injuries.
"In the Brovary district, unfortunately, there is one injured person. A man born in 1974 has been hospitalized in a local hospital and is receiving all necessary medical care. Two private houses were also damaged," said head of Regional Military Administration Mykola Kalashnyk.

In the morning, after 5:00 a.m., Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the city’s Defense Council, said Russian forces attacked an infrastructure facility with a Shahed drone. Emergency response operations are ongoing.
"Multi-story residential buildings have been affected. Door-to-door inspections are underway. As of now, there are no casualties," he added.
Kharkiv
Kharkiv was attacked multiple times overnight. According to Mayor Ihor Terekhov, at least three drone strikes were recorded in the city, all in the Osnovianskyi district.
The last, third strike occurred at 4:19 a.m. Terekhov later reported that two people were injured in that attack. It remains unclear what exactly was targeted throughout the night.
Russia's strikes on Ukraine
Russia continues to attack Ukraine daily and almost continuously with drones, and during combined assaults, also with missiles.
One of the most recent large-scale attacks occurred on the night of April 20. At that time, the enemy launched drones, as well as ballistic and cruise missiles of various types. Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Dnipro, and other cities were targeted.
In Kyiv, 17 multi-story and 10 private houses were damaged, along with a hotel, an office center, a car dealership, a gas station, and a shopping mall. Dozens of people were injured.
In Dnipro, strikes damaged office and administrative buildings, residential homes, a business facility, and vehicles.
Odesa, in turn, endured several waves of missile and drone attacks. Residential buildings, port, and critical infrastructure, warehouses, and other facilities were damaged.
