Russia plans to expand military-technical cooperation with India - Sources

The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense learned about Russia’s plans to expand military-technical cooperation with India, according to sources in Ukrainian intelligence.
According to intelligence, from September 15 to 18, the fourth meeting of the working subgroup of the Russian-Indian intergovernmental commission on military and military-technical cooperation is planned to be held in Saint Petersburg.
Over four days, the Indian and Russian delegations intend to develop and agree on plans for bilateral military cooperation activities between Russia and India for 2025–2026.
In particular, the meeting will discuss defense cooperation, military training, and the conduct of joint military exercises.
The negotiations will take place at the Central Naval Museum in Saint Petersburg. Despite the full secrecy regime of the planned event, Ukrainian intelligence has detailed information about the agenda of the Russian-Indian commission meeting, which includes "a visit by the Indian delegation to the cruiser Aurora."
Currently, Russia and India jointly produce PJ-10 BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles. Another joint project is the company Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited, which in 2019 began manufacturing AK-203 rifles in India for the complete rearmament of the Indian army.
Punishment of India for trading with Russia
On August 6, US President Donald Trump issued an order imposing an additional 25% tariff on India. The reason was India’s continued purchases of Russian oil. These tariffs were added to the existing 25% duties on Indian goods that took effect in the US from August 1.
India’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to the new measures by justifying the necessity of buying Russian oil. Meanwhile, the US assures that the 25% tariffs are only the beginning of a pressure campaign on buyers of Russian oil.
At the same time, according to media reports, Indian oil refineries urgently stopped purchasing Russian oil after the large-scale tariffs. Currently, companies are awaiting instructions from the Indian government.
