Russia must not be rewarded for starting this war, says Ukrainian FM

Ukraine has been resisting Russia's full-scale war for the fourth year. The Ukrainian government insists on peace based on international law, states Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
For over three years, Ukraine has defended its independence on land, sea, and in the air against Russia's full-scale aggression.
In this struggle, the courage of Ukrainian defenders and the resilience of its citizens play a key role.
"Ukrainians deserve a just peace based on international law and respect for our territorial integrity and borders defined by our Constitution," the minister emphasized.
He stressed that Russia must not be rewarded for starting a war that brought suffering and destruction.
Despite the efforts of the United States and Ukraine’s readiness for dialogue, Moscow continues to terrorize civilians, ignores set deadlines, and shows no genuine desire to end the conflict.
At the same time, Ukraine remains open to constructive dialogue based on mutual respect and consideration of the will of the Ukrainian people.
"We need a lasting peace that will not be destroyed by Moscow's next move. Ukraine is ready to cooperate with the United States and all our international partners to achieve a just and lasting peace together," Sybiha added.
Trump on possible territory swap
Earlier, US President Donald Trump raised the idea of a territorial exchange between Russia and Ukraine.
He noted the situation is complex, but negotiations aim to return some territories to Ukraine, along with a mutual land swap benefiting both sides.
At the same time, he announced the date and place of his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin — August 15 in Alaska.
According to CBS News, there is a possibility that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will join the Trump-Putin summit next week.
Meanwhile, Ukraine will not give up its territories to Russian occupiers.
"The answer to the Ukrainian territorial question is already in the Constitution of Ukraine. No one will and cannot back down from this. Ukrainians will not give their land to the occupiers," the head of state said.
