Russia may attack NATO within 3 to 5 years, Danish Defense Minister
Russia may attack NATO within three to five years. Russia's capabilities in weapon production have significantly increased, according to Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.
"One cannot rule out that within three to five years Russia will test Article 5 and NATO solidarity. NATO did not consider such an assumption in 2023. These are new data that have become known now," he said.
He notes that Denmark has to be prepared to act in response.
NATO prepares for possible escalations
Earlier, NATO Military Committee Chairman Admiral Rob Bauer stated that the Alliance required transformation and the West needed to prepare for an era in which anything could happen at any time, including the outbreak of war.
His remarks come against the backdrop of delays or limitations in military aid to Ukraine from the United States and the European Union.
On January 16, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Western wavering in support for Kyiv and fears of escalation with Russia could prolong hostilities for years.
Previously, Bild reported that NATO intended to conduct massive exercises involving around 90,000 military personnel in February. The scenario of the exercises involves a Russian attack on Alliance territory.
