On the night of April 8, Russian Shahed drones launched a massive strike on the southern part of the Odesa region. Russian attack damaged civilian and port infrastructure, according to Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration.

Russian strike partially destroyed a warehouse and a utility building.

No reports of casualties or injuries have been received.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that the strike caused fires within the port infrastructure and in the warehouse facilities.

Rescue workers quickly extinguished all the fires.

28 rescue workers and seven pieces of equipment were deployed to fight the fires. A fire unit from the National Guard of Ukraine and a local fire brigade also worked at the scene.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine also shared footage of the fire being extinguished at the impact sites.

Russian attacks on ports in Odesa and region

Russians are systematically attacking ports in the Odesa region with drones and missiles.

As reported by Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery and Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksii Kuleba, the intensity of such attacks has significantly increased in 2026.

Earlier, a Russian drone strike damaged one of the region’s ports, two civilian vessels flying the flags of Palau and Barbados were hit, and port infrastructure was destroyed. The strikes caused fires.

Before that, Russian forces struck two ports in the Odesa region, killing two people and wounding five others.
