On the morning of September 25, Russians launched a massive attack with strike drones on Nizhyn in the Chernihiv region. Critical infrastructure was hit, causing problems with electricity and water, according to Suspilne.

According to Nizhyn Mayor Oleksandr Kodola, 14 Russian drone strikes were recorded between 7:20 and 7:45 a.m.

Some of the drones did not detonate, but one hit a critical infrastructure facility outside the city, causing a fire. There are no casualties at this time. Due to the Russian attack, about 30,000 subscribers were left without electricity.

"All services will go to the site after the situation returns to normal, because there have already been unfortunate cases when Russian strikes again. Civilian infrastructure is running on generators," the mayor says.

Due to the lack of electricity in Nizhyn, there were also problems with the water supply.

The water utility company said that water will be supplied from generators according to a schedule: from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Residents of the city were urged to stock up on water.

Russian attack on Ukraine on September 25

Nizhyn in the Chernihiv region regularly suffers from Russian drone strikes.

On the night of September 21, a critical infrastructure facility caught fire after being hit by drones, but while the fire was being extinguished, Russia launched a second strike.

Two rescuers were injured and hospitalized.

On September 14, the city suffered the most powerful Russian attack since the start of the full-scale invasion — dozens of Russian drones struck critical infrastructure and industrial facilities for more than 16 hours.

According to the mayor of Nizhyn, some enterprises suffered double strikes, which led to interruptions in the city's electricity and water supply.

Debris from the Russian drone even fell in the city center.
