Russia massively strikes Kyiv: Ukrainian air defense destroys over 20 missiles
Russia launched another combined missile attack on Kyiv. Russian troops fired about 10 ballistic missiles at the city, according to the head of the Kyiv Military Academy Serhii Popko.
Russian cruise missiles (potentially Kh-101) were fired at around 3 a.m. from Tu-95MS strategic bombers from the Saratov region of Russia. These missiles approached Kyiv after complex manoeuvres, from the south.
Simultaneously with the approach of cruise missiles to the capital, Russia fired KN-24/Iskander-M ballistic missiles at Kyiv and its suburbs. This was compounded by one drone.
"Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed over a dozen Russian cruise missiles, about a dozen ballistic missiles, and a drone in the airspace of Kyiv. This is a huge number of ballistic missiles simultaneously," Popko says.
As a result of the Russian missile strike, debris fell in the Holosiivskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Dniprovskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts of Kyiv.
There is a fire in cars and damage to non-residential premises. Data on the damage and casualties are being updated.
