Ukraine is actively conducting offensive operations in the vicinity of Bakhmut and in the Melitopol direction. Since the start of the counteroffensive, the Russian Federation has suffered significant losses on the battlefield while attempting to hold their positions, according to the BBC.

It is reported that during the first weeks of the Ukrainian counteroffensive, there has been a notable increase in casualties among Russian military personnel. Specifically, Russia has lost at least 234 officers, including 2 generals and 11 colonels.

The edition notes that the increase in losses among commanders suggests that the execution of critical tasks within the Russian army still requires "hands-on management" and the personal presence of senior officers on the frontlines.

The overall losses for Russia in Ukraine now amount to 277,660 soldiers.

Ukrainian counteroffensive

Since the beginning of summer, our soldiers have continued their offensive operations in the east and south of Ukraine. Currently, active battles are taking place south of Bakhmut and in the Melitopol direction.

The most recent liberated settlements were Andriivka and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region. As reported by the Defense Forces, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have established fire control over the Bakhmut - Horlivka highway. This will provide more opportunities to eliminate the occupiers and disrupt their supply lines.

Commander of the "Tavriya" military grouping, Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, believes that a significant breakthrough in the counteroffensive may occur after Ukrainian defenders liberate Tokmak in the Zaporizhzhia region.
