Russia launches Shahed strike on Chernihiv, with casualties reported

On the night of June 3, Russian forces launched a Shahed drone strike on the city of Chernihiv. The attack resulted in civilian casualties, according to the Telegram channel of Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, head of the Chernihiv City Military Administration.
“A Shahed drone hit a residential area. There are civilian casualties. Details are being clarified,” he wrote.
About an hour earlier, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had warned that several groups of drones were heading toward Chernihiv.
Bryzhynskyi clarified that Shahed drones crashed on several streets across the city. In particular, private houses caught fire at the impact sites. The exact number of casualties is still being clarified.

“As a result of the Shahed drone crash, a private home caught fire. A five-story residential building and several other private homes were also damaged. Two people sustained minor injuries and are receiving all necessary medical assistance,” wrote Bryzhynskyi.
At this moment, an emergency response center has been set up at the scene. All relevant emergency services are working on-site.

Bryzhynskyi provided an update on the casualties in Chernihiv:
- one person sustained severe injuries and was taken to a medical facility;
- another suffered moderate injuries.
Russian drone attack on Ukraine
On the night of June 2, Russia launched 84 aerial weapons against Ukraine. These included 80 Shahed-type drones and decoy UAVs, three ballistic missiles (Iskander-M/KN-23), and one Iskander-K cruise missile.
As of 8:30 a.m., Ukrainian air defense forces neutralized 52 of them: 15 were shot down, and 37 were lost due to local electronic warfare interference.
