The Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Russian troops used more than 890 drones of various types against Ukraine over the past day. The main strike was directed at the western regions of the country, and more than 700 drones were recorded in the morning alone, according to a Telegram post by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russia attacked Ukraine with hundreds of drones
According to the Air Forces, on May 13, from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM Kyiv time, the Russian army launched 753 strike drones against Ukraine.
These included Shahed-type drones, as well as Gerbera, Italmas, and Parodiya decoy drones.
In addition, a nighttime attack was also taken into account, during which another 139 UAVs were recorded.
Thus, the total number of Russian drones used over the past day exceeded 890 units.
Western regions were the main target
The Air Force stated that the main direction of the strike was the western regions of Ukraine.
It is also noted that during the attack, Russian forces again used the territory of Belarus and Moldova for the flight of strike drones toward Ukraine.
Aircraft, air defense units, mobile fire groups, electronic warfare systems, and UAV units of Ukraine’s Defense Forces were involved in repelling the air attack.
Hundreds of drones were shot down
According to preliminary data, as of 6:30 PM, Ukrainian air defense shot down or suppressed 710 enemy drones of various types across almost all regions of the country.
At the same time, 36 strike drones hit their targets. Another 26 locations reported falling debris from downed UAVs.
The Air Force emphasized that the air attack continued into the evening. Several Russian UAVs were still in Ukrainian airspace at that time.
On May 13, Russian forces used a tactic of prolonged combined strikes, not limiting themselves to a nighttime attack. According to intelligence and presidential statements, a new wave of massive attacks is ongoing and may continue throughout the day, shifting into a prolonged pressure campaign across Ukraine.
Some experts believe that under Donald Trump’s presidency, the format of ceasefires in Russia’s war against Ukraine has changed and has lost its classical meaning.
