On the night of January 17, Russia attacked Ukraine with 201 strike drones from multiple directions. Air defense forces managed to shoot down 167 enemy drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force's Telegram.

According to the military, from 6:30 p.m. on January 17 until the morning of January 18, Russians launched 201 strike drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, and other types, from the directions of Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), Chaunda (temporarily occupied Crimea), and Donetsk (temporarily occupied Ukraine). About 120 of them were Shaheds.

The air attack was countered by aviation, surface-to-air missile units, electronic warfare and drone units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s defense forces.

As of 8:00 a.m., air defense had shot down or suppressed 167 enemy drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, and other types.

Impacts were recorded from 30 strike drones at 15 locations, and debris from shot-down UAVs fell in two additional locations.

"The attack continues, with several enemy UAVs still in the air. Follow safety rules!" the Air Force warned.

Drone attacks across Ukraine

On the night of January 18, Russian drones hit Khmelnytskyi region, causing a fire at one industrial facility.

Russian forces also struck Kherson region with drones, killing two people.

In Kharkiv, an enemy drone hit a private house, killing one person.

Additionally, Russians attacked Zaporizhzhia overnight with groups of strike drones, causing a fire on a residential property.
