Russian forces struck the Kherson region with drones, killing two people, according to the Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.

The head of the Regional Military Administration said that on January 15, Russian forces shelled a residential house in the village of Novoberyslav. As a result of the strike, a 63-year-old man was killed under the rubble of his own home.

Later, it emerged that on January 17 at around 7:40 PM, Russian forces launched a drone attack on the village of Sofiivka. A woman was injured and later died in hospital.

"Medics fought desperately to save the woman, born in 1974. However, her injuries proved fatal," Prokudin wrote, expressing condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed.

Russian strikes on Kherson region

Russian forces shell populated areas of the Kherson region on a daily basis using various types of weapons. As a result of the constant attacks, civilians are regularly reported wounded or killed.

On Friday, January 9, Russian forces struck Kherson, with one shell piercing the wall of a medical facility in the Dniprovskyi district. Nurses were injured, suffering concussions and blast-related injuries.

Previously, on January 5, Russian troops attacked a humanitarian aid distribution point in the village of Orlove, Kherson region, using drones. According to Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Prokudin, at least three drones were directed at the building where residents were receiving essential supplies. The strike killed a 64-year-old man and wounded a 79-year-old woman and a 71-year-old man, who sustained blast and shrapnel injuries.

Russian forces have also shelled a market in one of Kherson’s districts, killing two civilians and injuring seven others.
