Russia launches another fake about a Ukraine's strike on Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant

Russian propagandists have launched another fake about a strike by Ukrainian forces on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (ZNPP). The goal is to discredit Ukraine, according to the Telegram channel of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
"Russian propaganda has intensified a disinformation campaign around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant aimed at discrediting Ukraine. In particular, hostile sources are spreading a fake about an alleged ‘Ukrainian attack’ on one of the facilities on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia NPP," the statement reads.
The propagandists claim that the Ukrainian Armed Forces supposedly struck the roof of the training building at the power plant, which houses a reactor hall simulator. As with other cases of fake accusations of attacks on Zaporizhzhia NPP against Ukraine, Russia provides no evidence.
"By spreading such lies, Russia is trying to discredit Ukraine in the eyes of the international community and justify its illegal military presence at the nuclear facility," the Center for Countering Disinformation emphasized.
Situation at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant
Russian troops captured the Zaporizhzhia NPP in March 2022, following the occupation of its satellite city, Enerhodar. Later, Russian forces mined the auxiliary premises of the plant and stationed military equipment there.
Subsequently, all reactor units were put into a cold shutdown state. During the three years of the full-scale war, the plant has repeatedly lost power for its internal needs due to damage to power lines caused by Russian attacks.
As noted by Energoatom NNEGC, the current technical condition of the Zaporizhzhia NPP does not allow it to be put back into operation.
