Russia launches 70 drones at Ukraine: Air defense intercepts many across country
Russia launched 70 drones at Ukraine on the night of November 2. Air defense was active in four regions of the country, according to the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.
On the night of November 2, the enemy launched an attack using a Kh-31P guided missile from the Belgorod region. The occupiers fired 71 strike drones and unmanned aerial vehicles of unidentified types. The launches originated from the areas of Oryol and Kursk.
The attack was repelled by anti-aircraft missile troops, aviation, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups. Air defense operated in the Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Sumy, and Poltava regions.
As of 11:00, 39 enemy drones have been confirmed shot down. Twenty-one drones were locally lost, and five returned to Russia.
About five drones remain in the air, and combat operations are ongoing.
Consequences of the drone attack on Kyiv
The occupiers attacked Kyiv in waves, with enemy drones approaching the city in groups and then splitting into individual targets before reaching the capital. The drones targeted the city at extremely low altitudes.
There were no direct hits in Kyiv; all drones aimed at the city were destroyed. However, debris fell in six districts.
In the Sviatoshynskyi district, a high-rise building caught fire, and a police officer was injured. A fire also broke out in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv.
