The Russian Federation may share the fate of the USSR and collapse, as not all nations joined it voluntarily, according to the Head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
In his opinion, Russians themselves understand that, despite the size of their country, Ukrainian soldiers can reach them anywhere.
"The war has already moved onto their territory. Any empire, any dictatorship is built on violence, and some submit to it for various interests. But there are also many — even the majority — who are afraid," he said.
Yermak emphasized that fear weakens when an empire begins to shake and crack at the seams. As a result, he added, "completely unexpected scenarios appear. We don't see them yet, but I think it won't be long."
"Formally, Russia is supposedly a voluntary union of peoples. But how is it in reality? Not everyone joined it voluntarily. And not everyone is comfortable there. Russia is a parody of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). And I wouldn't rule out that it might share the same fate," the Head of the President’s Office said.
He noted that in international politics, Moscow pretends to be a friend to many, but everyone knows the true price of such friendship.
Yermak expressed confidence that no one wishes the aggressor country victory, since everyone — even China — knows what Russia is like when it wields unchecked power.
Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine, together with its global partners, is approaching a possible end to the war with Russia. According to him, this is primarily due to the efforts of US President Donald Trump.
It should be noted that Donald Trump stated that Ukraine can still win the war, but added that this is unlikely to happen.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that in September, after talks with Zelenskyy, Trump said that Ukraine could regain all territories occupied by Russian forces.
