Russia invented a story about an alleged attack on the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin to derail peace efforts that have recently intensified with the involvement of Ukraine and the United States, said Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson responded to Russia's statement about a more challenging negotiating position following a fake attack by Ukrainian drones on the residence of the Russian ruler.
"This is precisely the reason why the Russians invented the Residence Attack Hoax. All they needed was to create a false, and quite sloppy, justification for Russia to reject peace efforts that have recently accelerated thanks to active work by Ukraine and the United States," he emphasized.
The Foreign Ministry noted that such statements by the Kremlin are another attempt at manipulation and information cover for Moscow's unwillingness to pursue diplomacy.
Attack on Putin's residence
Russia accused Ukraine of allegedly attacking Putin's residence and promised a retaliatory strike. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the "targets and timing of Russia's retaliatory strike after the attack on Putin's state residence have been determined.''
At the same time, Russia has still provided no credible evidence to support its accusations.
Today, the spokesperson for the Russian leader, Dmitry Peskov, said that "the Kremlin will toughen its negotiating position on Ukraine" following the fabricated attack.
All details about Russia's statements regarding the alleged attack on the residence, as well as discrepancies within the Russian authorities, can be found in the RBC-Ukraine report.
