Russia is interested in a new visit by US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner and is looking forward to it, but no dates have been set yet, according to Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
He also says that establishing peace in Ukraine requires "joint efforts on parallel tracks." In addition, according to Peskov, ending the war is impossible without "broad discussion of European security."
"US efforts to resolve the Ukrainian issue are in line with Russian interests. Russia is interested in negotiations on Ukraine and remains open to this process," the Kremlin press secretary says.
Background
Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are going to visit Moscow to meet with Vladimir Putin.
The trip may take place as early as January, but the plans are not yet final, and the timing may change due to events in Iran, where large-scale unrest has been ongoing for more than two weeks.
US peace plan
A meeting of the Coalition of the Willing at the leadership level was held in Paris, following which Kyiv, Paris, and London signed a declaration of intent regarding the Western contingent on Ukrainian territory.
In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump agreed on 90% of the American peace plan. The document is expected to be put to a referendum.
On January 7, Kremlin special representative Kirill Dmitriev was spotted in Paris, where, according to media reports, he was received at the US Embassy.
Axios reported that Trump's advisers Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met with Kirill Dmitriev in Paris to discuss the US peace plan for Ukraine.
Zelenskyy expressed hope that Russia would respond to the 20-point peace plan by the end of this month. Zelenskyy said he wanted to receive a response before finalizing security guarantees and a recovery plan with US President Donald Trump.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine's allies must respond in the event of renewed Russian aggression after the war ends.
