Russian forces have intensified their attempts to advance in the Kharkiv region, resulting in a significant spike in their losses, according to Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Group.
According to him, Russian forces are primarily increasing pressure in the Lyman direction. At the same time, he noted that the number of attacks has generally increased across all directions.
Trehubov said this is reflected in Russian losses, as over the past day, the Russian army lost about 300 soldiers in the area of responsibility of the group.
"For example, there may currently be 37 combat engagements in total — that is a high number. In the Lyman direction alone, there were 20 clashes, which is also a lot and a clear increase from before. Similarly, Russian daily casualties reaching 300 troops across all directions combined is a substantial figure," he said.
Trehubov added that this represents a large-scale offensive campaign by the enemy, which "will inevitably decline at some point."
After a series of Russian strikes on the Kharkiv region, local authorities are strengthening security measures. Some of the new restrictions have already been introduced at the entrances to Kharkiv.
On June 15, Russian forces carried out a strike on Kharkiv. As a result of the attack, five State Emergency Service rescuers who were eliminating the aftermath of an earlier strike were killed.
In addition, the Russian army attacked the city several times the day before. The Kharkiv Art Museum was among the sites hit. After the attack, several people sought medical assistance due to acute stress reactions.
