Russia increases number of missile carriers in Black Sea - Ukrainian Navy
Russian forces deployed three ships on combat duty in the Black Sea on the morning of September 27, two of which are equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles. This marks an increase from the previous day when only one missile carrier from the aggressor nation was observed in these waters, according to the Ukrainian Navy.
Military sources clarified that in the event of a missile attack, this enemy naval group could launch a total salvo of up to eight Kalibr missiles.
Meanwhile, no enemy ships were observed in the Sea of Azov.
According to the Ukrainian Navy, one Russian missile carrier, capable of launching up to 16 Kalibr missiles, was detected in the Mediterranean Sea.
The Ukrainian military also said that in Russia's interests, the following transit through the Kerch Strait took place over the past 24 hours:
- to the Black Sea: 6 vessels, 4 of which continued towards the Bosphorus Strait.
- to the Sea of Azov: 2 vessels, one of which entered from the Bosphorus.
In the morning report, the Ukrainian Navy once again confirmed that Russia continues to violate the 1974 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) by turning off its automatic identification systems (AIS).
As previously reported, after a massive combined attack on Ukraine on August 26-27, during which Russia also used Kalibr missiles from its naval group, enemy vessels have been regularly detected in the Black Sea.
For instance, on September 14, 16 Russian ships were observed in the Black Sea, seven of which were equipped with Kalibr missiles.
