Russia targeted the CHP-5 power plant in Kharkiv on October 11, just hours after US President Donald Trump announced the start of an "energy ceasefire" between Ukraine and Russia, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
"Today, the President of the United States announced that an energy ceasefire has been reached. This is good news for everyone, and it must become a reality. Ukraine supports all genuine and reliable formats for a ceasefire and an end to the war. Ukraine is ready to refrain from striking Russian energy infrastructure, and we expect Russia to show the same willingness, in line with the agreement reached with the President of the United States," Zelenskyy emphasized.
He said Ukraine is ready to stop striking Russian energy infrastructure, but Russia must show the same willingness.
Zelenskyy noted that Russia's recent actions show the opposite. On October 11, Russian Shahed drones and aerial bombs were present in Ukrainian airspace. In addition, Russian strikes on energy infrastructure were recorded.

"There has just been a strike on the CHP-5 plant in Kharkiv, targeting the city's energy infrastructure. In total, over the past week alone, the Russians have carried out more than 200 strikes on electricity generation and transmission facilities across Ukraine. They also carried out 17 strikes on gas and oil facilities in Ukraine over the same week. In just one week, the Russians killed more than 150 of our people and injured more than 700," Zelenskyy said.
Earlier, he noted that Ukraine supports an energy ceasefire with Russia.
The head of state also explained when Ukraine could halt strikes on Russian oil refineries.
