Russian troops attacked Ukrainian Zaporizhzhia on the afternoon of March 21, hitting critical infrastructure and causing smoke contamination across the city, reports Ivan Fedorov, head of the Regional Military Administration.

The reports say the strike occurred around 4:10 PM, with the Russians attempting drone attacks. Explosions and air defense activity were reported, and smoke was observed in one district following the Russian strikes.

Later, Ivan Fedorov clarified that critical infrastructure had been hit and provided additional details on the consequences.

"There may be power outages in some districts of the city. Nearby buildings sustained window damage from the blast wave. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties," the statement reads.

Administration head Fedorov reported that more than 47,000 city residents lost power due to the Russian attack. Some consumers have already had electricity restored.

"Other households and industrial facilities will be reconnected as soon as energy workers complete the restoration of equipment," he added.

Russian attacks on Zaporizhzhia

Earlier, on the morning of March 19, Russian forces struck Zaporizhzhia's energy infrastructure facilities, leaving more than 38,000 consumers without electricity.

Also, on March 17, Russia targeted the area near the Nova Poshta postal operator's terminal in Zaporizhzhia. The terminal building was heavily damaged, with debris scattered around the site.
