Russia hits busy Kharkiv highway - Cars on fire, people killed and injured

On the afternoon of December 26, Russian forces attacked Kharkiv and its suburbs using guided aerial bombs (KAB). The strike hit one of the busiest highways, causing deaths and injuries, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov.
According to Terekhov, explosions were heard both in the suburbs and in the city center. Preliminary information indicates the strike targeted the Shevchenkivskyi district.
Later, the mayor clarified that the strike hit one of Kharkiv's busiest highways. Several cars are on fire, and windows in nearby buildings have been shattered. There were people inside the burning vehicles. "At this time, one person is confirmed dead and three others injured, one of them seriously. Multi-story and private homes near the impact site were damaged," Terekhov said.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed that two people have been killed in the strike on Kharkiv, with four others injured.
The head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that among the injured is a nine-month-old girl. Medical teams are providing all necessary assistance to the injured.

Terekhov later stated that five people are now confirmed injured. The Russian attack also damaged over 20 residential buildings.
Syniehubov added that traffic on Klochkovska Street has been temporarily blocked.

The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov added that two men, aged 55 and 40, were killed in the Russian attacks. Among the injured are two women, aged 46 and 57, who are experiencing acute stress reactions.
Additionally, a 20-year-old woman and a 73-year-old woman sustained blast injuries and have been hospitalized. A nine-month-old girl was also taken to the hospital.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that six people have now been confirmed injured in Kharkiv due to the Russian airstrikes.
Russian attacks on Ukraine, December 26
Overnight, Russian forces also launched strikes on energy and port infrastructure in Ukraine's Odesa region, causing damage and power outages.
Two DTEK energy facilities in the south of the Odesa region were hit. The damage is significant. The repairs are expected to take time.
Additionally, Russian forces struck a railway station in Kovel, damaging a locomotive and a freight car.
Mykolaiv was also targeted, leaving parts of the district without power after drone strikes.
Later on December 26, Russian forces launched a missile strike on Uman in the Cherkasy region.
