In Moscow, officials cannot agree on whether a visit by special envoys of the US President to Russia will take place in the near future, according to News.ru.

According to Putin's aide Yury Ushakov, Moscow continues to maintain contacts with Washington. In particular, he is in touch with US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and the son-in-law of the American leader, Jared Kushner.

"This has been stated repeatedly (regarding the upcoming visit of Witkoff and Kushner — ed.), I have also mentioned it. The trip is being prepared," he said.

Peskov said the opposite

It is worth noting that just today, June 5, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov insisted that a visit by US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow is not expected.

Background

A few days ago, Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said that a first visit by Witkoff and Kushner to Kyiv is expected soon. According to him, they would then travel to Moscow.

The Kyiv visit was first announced in early April but never took place.

Against this backdrop, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that Witkoff and Kushner had only traveled to Moscow before, which he called not very respectful.

Western media also reported that Russia is tired of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner's visits. Moscow is reportedly seeking a new format for peace negotiations.
