Russia fired missiles and Shahed drones at Ukraine overnigh: Air defense operation report
Russian invaders launched an overnight attack on Ukraine on the night of September 23, using Kh-59/69 guided missiles and Shahed kamikaze drones. Three of the attack drones were shot down by Ukrainian air defense systems, according to the Ukrainian Air Force Command.
According to the report, the enemy used two Kh-59/69 guided missiles and four kamikaze drones for the airstrike on Ukraine.
The Air Force Command said that, as a result of successful air defense operations, three Shahed drones were shot down over the Sumy region.
"The remaining air targets, which were one Shahed drone and two guided missiles, did not reach their intended targets due to the active electronic warfare countermeasures by Ukraine's Defense Forces," the Air Force Command said.
Overnight air attack
Earlier, reports indicated that around 4:30 AM on Monday, September 23, air raid alerts were issued in several regions due to the threat posed by Shahed drones.
The Air Force had earlier warned about the launch of Russian attack drones from the north.
Additionally, military sources reported activity from enemy tactical aircraft in the northeast, warning of the potential threat of airstrikes.
Moreover, late the previous evening, Russian forces carried out airstrikes on Zaporizhzhia, reportedly using guided bombs. As of this morning, 13 people were reported injured, including a child.
