The General Assembly of the Mediterranean Ombudsmen Association approved a decision on Wednesday, September 25, to exclude the Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova from its membership, according to the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets.

"Today, at the extraordinary meeting of the General Assembly of the Mediterranean Ombudsmen Association, a decision was made to exclude the Russian Ombudsman from its membership," Lubinets reported.

He noted that this is already the third organization of ombudsmen to exclude Russia. The first was the International Ombudsman Institute in August 2022, followed by the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions in April 2023.

"While the UN Security Council is even afraid to initiate the procedure to exclude the Russian Federation, the united family of ombudsmen is taking decisive action. If international organizations follow suit, representatives of Russia will be isolated and unable to spread their propaganda," the Ombudsman emphasized.

Lubinets stated that a terrorist country should not have a voice on the world stage.

Russia is being considered for exclusion from the UN Security Council

Recently, Finnish President Alexander Stubb emphasized the need to reform the UN Security Council, proposing that any member participating in an illegal war should be excluded, specifically mentioning Russia.

As noted by the US State Department, calls for Russia's exclusion from the UN Security Council have been ongoing since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. However, achieving this is incredibly challenging.
