Russians have significantly intensified their information operations in the US and Poland against the backdrop of the murder of Charlie Kirk and the intrusion of drones into Polish airspace, according to Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

"Against the backdrop of Kirk's murder in the US, Russian networks masquerading as American ones are promoting narratives about MAGA's confrontation with everyone else—this is a game of division. They are also doing everything they can to prevent unity around the topic of Ukrainians and Ukraine after the murder of Ukrainian Iryna Zarutska," Kovalenko says.

According to him, Russia has long built a propaganda infrastructure on social media in Poland. With their bot farms, they spread accusations against Ukraine regarding drones and threats to Poland.

At the same time, they are playing on political issues in Poland, as the last elections showed that society is divided almost 50-50 in terms of political views. Therefore, the Russians are betting on divisions over issues related to Ukraine, Germany, expensive missiles used to shoot down drones, and many other issues.

"The Russian goal today is to destabilize Polish society and increase divisions to create internal tensions, "adds Kovalenko.

He also adds that Russia has been waging a hybrid covert war against Poland for a very long time. Now the pressure is only increasing.

Drone incursions into Poland

On September 10, Russia attacked Polish territory with strike drones. At least 19 Russian drones entered Poland, 4 of which were shot down.

Due to the massive Russian attack and the possible threat to security, airports in Warsaw, Lublin, and Rzeszów were temporarily suspended, but later resumed operations.

Murder of Charlie Kirk

On Wednesday, September 10, shots were fired during a debate at Utah Valley University. Activist Charlie Kirk was hospitalized with injuries. Later, US President Donald Trump confirmed Charlie Kirk's death.

After that, American investigators reported the arrest of the alleged killer of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, but after questioning the suspect, he was released.
