Russia deploys special forces to storm Avdiivka, starts using more tanks
The Russian Federation continues its assaults in the area of Avdiivka. Russian special forces units have been deployed there, according to Dmytro Lykhovii, spokesperson for the Tavria Defense Forces.
"We can see the enemy's intentions, they want to quickly encircle Avdiivka. We are countering, the front line is moving in both directions," he says.
According to him, the Russians used to use the tactics of small infantry groups near Avdiivka. However, recently they have changed their actions and started to engage more armored vehicles - tanks and infantry fighting vehicles. In addition, special forces have been deployed to Avdiivka.
"There is a regular Russian army there, very well-trained, motorized riflemen, paratroopers, and special forces," he says.
Situation in Avdiivka area
Avdiivka is called the "gateway to Donetsk", and Russian invaders have been trying to capture the city since the fall of 2023. According to the Ukrainian military, the Russians have lost tens of thousands of soldiers in the battle for Avdiivka.
Currently, the Russian invaders manage to reach the outskirts of Avdiivka. The coke plant remains another outpost of defense.
The head of Avdiivka City Military Administration Vitalii Barabash noted that the Russian occupation troops are in the private sector of the city, but it is still far from "all is lost."
The Ukrainian Armed Forces believe that if the Russian occupation forces reach the supply artery in Avdiivka, it will complicate the logistics of our troops.
