If the occupation forces advance towards the supply artery in Avdiivka, which runs west of the coke-chemical plant, the logistics and reinforcement of Ukrainian troops will be complicated, according to the spokesperson of the press center of the Defense Forces of the Tavria direction, Dmytro Lykhoviy.

He noted that there may be talk of an operational encirclement in case of enemy advancement.

"If they advance closer to the supply artery, to the road that runs slightly west of the coke-chemical plant, then the supply, logistics, replacement, and reinforcement of our units in Avdiivka will be very complicated," he said.

According to the spokesperson, entry into Avdiivka for non-military personnel is challenging. For example, law enforcement officers cannot enter the city to assess the consequences of enemy shelling and possible casualties.

The spokesperson recalled the Russian strike on February 8th on the stronghold and warehouse in a supermarket on Central Avenue. He noted that the number of casualties from the attack cannot be determined yet, as law enforcement officers do not have access to the scene of the incident.

Fighting in the Avdiivka area

Avdiivka is called the "gateway to Donetsk," and Russian invaders have been trying to capture the city since the fall of 2023. According to the Ukrainian military, Russians have lost tens of thousands of soldiers in battles for Avdiivka.

Currently, the invaders manage to approach the outskirts of Avdiivka. Another defensive outpost remains the coke-chemical plant.

Vitaliy Barabash, the head of the Avdiivka MVA, noted that the occupation forces are located in the city's private sector, but "it's far from over" yet.
