Late at night on July 28, explosions rocked temporarily occupied Donetsk. The enemy is reporting an attack by unidentified drones, according to Russian Telegram channels.

Based on the reports, the alleged drone attack began around 11:00 p.m. Kyiv time. At that time, air defense systems were reportedly already engaged over Donetsk.

Soon after, social media began circulating footage capturing the sounds of drones, loud explosions, and intermittent air defense activity.

In addition, the channel Mash na Donbasse reported that flashes were seen near the Kuibyshevskyi district. Moreover, power reportedly went out in some parts of the city.

There is no information yet about the consequences of the attack.

Explosions in Donetsk and the surrounding region

Fighting in the Donetsk region began back in 2014, and the situation worsened significantly in 2022 when Russia launched a full-scale war against Ukraine.

As a result, explosions have been repeatedly heard in the area. For example, on July 28, loud blasts were reported in Donetsk’s Kyivskyi district.

A bit earlier, on June 30, explosions were also heard in Donetsk amid reports of a missile attack on the city. Later, the Ukrainian General Staff announced that the Defense Forces had targeted the command post of Russia’s 8th Combined Arms Army.
