Russia deploys missile carrier with Kalibrs in Black Sea for first time in 15 days
A Russian ship armed with Kalibr cruise missiles was spotted in the Black Sea this morning, October 2. Russia has deployed these missiles for combat duty in the region following a pause of more than two weeks, states the Ukrainian Navy.
According to military reports, there is currently one enemy ship detected in the Black Sea, which is equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles.
The Ukrainian Navy explained that this vessel can launch up to four missiles in a single salvo.
Meanwhile, there are no enemy ships present in the Sea of Azov.
The last time Russian missile carriers were spotted in the Black Sea was on October 19, although they did not have Kalibr missiles on board at that time.
However, on October 17, a naval group of the enemy equipped with these missiles was recorded in the area - just 15 days ago.
Additionally, the Ukrainian Navy reported today that on November 2, one Russian ship carrying Kalibrs, capable of launching up to eight missiles, was also sighted in the Mediterranean Sea.
"Russia continues to violate the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) of 1974 by disabling automatic identification systems," military officials added.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Navy explained whether storms could affect the Russian ability to deploy missile carriers in the Black Sea.
Additionally, the Spokesperson of the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk, mentioned that the Russian fleet can no longer effectively influence the course of military operations in Ukraine.
