Russia deploys missile carrier in Black Sea
Two Russian warships have been detected in the Black Sea, which Russia placed on combat duty this morning, October 17. One of the vessels is a carrier of sea-launched cruise missiles of the Kalibr type, reports the Ukrainian Navy.
Military officials clarified that the hostile vessel is capable of launching a total of up to four Kalibr missiles in a single salvo in the event of a missile strike.
Meanwhile, no enemy ships have been observed in the waters of the Sea of Azov.
The Ukrainian Navy reported that four Russian ships have been spotted in the Mediterranean Sea, three of which are carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles, with a total capacity of up to 16 missiles.
According to the Ukrainian military department, over the past day, the following vessels have passed through the Kerch Strait in favor of Russia:
- to the Black Sea - two ships, one of which continued towards the Bosporus Strait;
- to the Sea of Azov - nine ships, one of which was coming from the Bosporus Strait.
"Russia continues to violate the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) of 1974 by disabling automatic identification systems," the Ukrainian Navy added.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Navy discussed whether storms could affect the occupiers' ability to deploy missile carriers in the Black Sea.
Additionally, recently, the spokesperson of the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk, noted that the Russian fleet can no longer significantly impact the course of military operations in Ukraine.
