On New Year’s Eve, two facilities in Russia caught fire - the Lyudinovo oil depot in the Kaluga region and the Ilsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai, according to Russian media.
Drones reportedly attacked both sites. Public Telegram channels reported the Lyudinovo oil depot strike on December 31, shortly before the New Year’s Eve countdown. The Kaluga refinery, however, was hit after midnight on January 1.
“The Lyudinovo oil depot continues to burn following the arrival of the festive UAV,” read a comment under a video on one Telegram channel.
“The first refinery of 2026 is already in the books,” read a caption under footage showing the aftermath of the attack on the Ilsky oil refinery.
“The Ilsky refinery takes the baton for 2026,” wrote Telegram channels under striking footage, showing flames lighting up the night horizon.
On the night of December 31, Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck the Tuapse oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar region. The attack also targeted the Tamanneftegaz terminal, a reserve fuel depot, and ammunition warehouses used by occupying forces.
Earlier, on the night of December 28, Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck the Syzran oil refinery.
