Russia builds up group near borders of Chernihiv and Sumy regions - General Staff
The Russian army is building up a group near the borders of Chernihiv and Sumy regions, according to the acting deputy chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Ihor Prokhorenko.
“As for the Sumy direction, the situation is stable and controlled there today. The Russian Federation keeps a group of troops in the border areas, which is conducting holding actions to prevent the transfer of our units to other threatening directions,” Prokhorenko said.
According to him, Russia is carrying out actions to build up its grouping on the border with Chernihiv and the rest of the border of Sumy region.
“Every day the enemy launches air and artillery strikes on the positions of our troops and civilian infrastructure, and uses Shahed UAVs,” said Prokhorenko.
He added that the situation in other directions is stable, there are no significant changes.
Situation at the frontline
According to the recent data of the General Staff, Ukrainian troops stopped the Russian forces in the north of Kharkiv region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are inflicting fire on the enemy forces.
Also, according to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, there is a possibility that the Russian army may launch an offensive on the Kharkiv region from the Sumy direction.
