Ukrainian forces halt Russian advances in north of Kharkiv region, inflict damage – General Staff
Ukrainian defenders stop Russian invaders in the north of the Kharkiv region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are inflicting fire damage on the Russian forces, according to Ihor Prokhorenko, deputy head of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He notes that fighting has been going on in the Kharkiv direction since May 10, when Russia launched an offensive. According to the representative of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian occupants want to create a so-called buffer zone.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped Russian invaders in the Kharkiv direction. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are planning an offensive.
"Today the situation there is stable and under control, Russian troops have been stopped, fire is being applied to it, and the Ukrainian Defense Forces are planning and conducting offensive assault operations to restore the lost position," says Prokhorenko.
Russian offensive near Vovchansk
On the night of May 9-10, Russians launched an offensive in the north of Kharkiv region. The Russian occupiers managed to reach the first line of defense, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Street battles are currently ongoing in the city of Vovchansk. The Ukrainian military emphasizes that the situation there is under control.
According to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, there is no threat of an advance on Kharkiv. He notes that the Russian occupiers wanted to take control of Vovchansk in two days and reach Kharkiv in five.
